Dentures in Tyler

With modern dental technology, people who are missing teeth have a variety of different options to replace them and get their smile back. One of the most common tooth replacement options is dentures. However, they aren’t made to last forever, and sometimes it is worth it to take them in for repairs or replacement. But how do you know when it’s time? Continue reading to see which signs may indicate that it could be time for new dentures in Tyler.

Your Dentures Are Loose

If your dentures are fitting properly, they shouldn’t be moving around or falling out of your mouth. They should be staying in place when you speak and chew due to the tight fit between them and your gums. For shorter periods of time, adhesives can be used to keep your denture in place, but this is not a permanent fix. You may be needing new dentures soon. See your dentist to see what your options are.

Speaking Is Difficult

Generally, this happens when your dentures aren’t fitting properly and begin to feel loose. If you’re slurring your words accidently more often, this could indicate that your dentures need to be adjusted, repaired, or replaced. Dentures are meant to make your life easier, not make it difficult to clearly communicate with others.

You Are Feeling Discomfort

You shouldn’t be feeling any pain or discomfort with your dentures. They do take some getting used to right when you get them, but if they are causing you pain, this is a sign that they aren’t in the best shape or are fitting incorrectly. If you notice that you have any kind of sores, lesions, or changes in your gum health, you should schedule an appointment with your dentist so you can get to the bottom of the issue.

Your Dentures Are Damaged

Dentures are fairly strong, but they aren’t indestructible. If you notice any chips, cracks, loose teeth, or missing teeth, this is definitely a sign that they need to be seen by your dentist. They can become damaged if you drop them or even just from a buildup of wear and tear over time. Make an urgent appointment with your dentist so you can have them repaired or replaced depending on the severity of the damage.

Your Dentures Are Discolored

Discoloration is another reason why you may want to have them replaced. While staining can be avoided with proper care, they may still because discolored over time. This is especially the case if you drink pigmented beverages often, like coffee, tea, or wine.

If your dentures have seen better days, give your dentist a call. Having your smile back shouldn’t cause you to feel discomfort. You’ll be showing off your teeth again with comfort and confidence in no time!
